Never Run Never Hide

In 1980, Polydor Records released the album "Never Run, Never Hide". This would be Benny Mardones most successful commercial release to date. The song "Into The Night" became a Top 10 hit (peaking at #5) and the record sold millions of copies around the world. The song "Into The Night" was CO-written with Bobby Tepper, who was also the bassist in Benny's band the Hurricanes. Bobby Tepper later wrote another Top 10 song, "No Easy Way Out" from the Rocky IV soundtrack.

Notables from the Polydor Bio at the time of the "Never Run, Never Hide:"

"Benny Mardones doesn't compromise," says Record World, "He exudes an energy unequaled in intensity since the early ‘60's." One of Benny's secret weapons is his voice. A Chicago writer claims it "will drop you to your knees," while the Boston Herald American says it "gives Mardones the tools to horn in on the territory staked out by the likes of Bob Seger and Rod Stewart." Another secret to Benny Mardones' power is his stage presence, which Variety dubs "hyper-kinetic . . . always on the make and usually right on target." Songwriting is another Mardones strength, characterized by what Rolling Stone calls "gloriously adolescent romanticism . . .. " With his brand-new Polydor album, Never Run, Never Hide, Benny Mardones puts those qualities together in 40 minutes of what the Savage, Maryland, native describes as "good, aggressive, honest American rock ‘n' roll."
